Be Safe in Glasgow
Glasgow shouldnt present any problems to your safety or health. However, along with the citys increased popularity as a tourist destination, petty crime has also seen an upswing. By taking a few simple precautions you can remove most of the potential for becoming a victim.
Safety
Although Glasgow is generally considered a safe city, its increased popularity as a tourist destination has brought with it a proportionate rise in crime. Its unlikely that visitors will encounter any trouble, but extra care should be taken in some of the seedier areas along the edges of downtown. Visitors should take all the usual precautions when travelling in a new country such as keeping valuables out of sight and ensuring that cameras and bags are slung across the shoulder.
Cars with rental licence plates make easy targets for thieves. Dont leave anything of value in your car and try to park it in your hotel garage at night. Its strongly suggested that all visitors to Glasgow buy some travellers insurance to ensure that any mishaps dont ruin your trip.

Health
There are no serious health risks in Glasgow to cause concern. The quality of the tap water is excellent and the food in Glasgows restaurants is up to international standards and wont be an issue. Keep in mind that the weather in Scotland can be cold and damp at any time of the year, so bring appropriate clothing and rain gear.
If anything does happen during your visit, there are excellent medical facilities in Glasgow. All of the staff and doctors speak English and can assist with any problems. Visitors from other countries should check whether they are covered by their medical policy in Scotland. If not, its wise to get some travel insurance to cover any unexpected hospital costs. The price of travel insurance is very small compared to a Scottish medical bill.
