Getting to Falmouth
The town of Falmouth in the county of Cornwall is well-connected by road, rail and bus, while the nearest airport is in Newquay, only 32 miles (51.5kms) away. Many visitors from other European countries arrive at the Newquay Cornwall International Airport, which is one of the fastest-growing regional airports in the United Kingdom. From the airport, it is just a short drive to reach Falmouth.
By car
There is always the option to rent a private car at the airport in Newquay. Securing your own means of transportation will be efficient and most comfortable if you would like to explore Cornwalls jaw-dropping coastal scenery, vibrant resorts, idyllic traditional villages and remote inland areas. Falmouth can be reached by car, driving along the A30 motorway or the A38 motorway from Exeter.
The quaint villages and towns in Cornwall offer various accommodation establishments, great restaurants and some typical English traditional pubs. Recreational options vary, from water sports on the shore, to fishing, hiking and camping at isolated wilderness sites such as Bodmin Moor. A private car is the best way to explore Cornwall and its wide range of attractions.
By rail
Fast, efficient and reliable, Intercity Express trains arrive several times daily in Penzance from London Paddington Station and from Birmingham New Street Station. These services stop at the towns of Plymouth, Liskeard, St Austell, Truro, Camborne and St Erth for St. Ives. Allow 5 to 6 hours for the journey.

By bus
National Express, which is one of the largest coach operators in Britain, operates daily services from Truro and Penzance to London. The duration of the journey from Penzance to London Victoria is approximately 8 hours. Once you arrive in Cornwall, there are local coaches following routes to localities such as Falmouth and St Ives.
By air
Ryanair offers daily flights to London Stansted, departing from Newquay, with a flight duration of less than 1 hour. AirSouthwest provide up to four flights per day to London Gatwick, also from Newquay. Duration of the flight is a little longer than 1 hour.
Newquay Airport is the sole commercial airport serving Cornwall. Newquay provides a convenient alternative to the long and sometimes frustrating voyage by road or rail. Current facilities at the airport feature a bar/caf that serves hot and cold beverages and light meals; a departure lounge with nice views over the runway and a small caf, which also serves light meals; a spacious check-in section with a caf; and email and internet services.
Taxis
There are plenty of taxi firms serving Falmouth and the area. They offer the most convenient and fastest transportation services. However, for travelling to long-distance destinations, it is not recommended that you take a taxi, as it can be quite expensive. Better options are the public transport services which provide efficient services.
