Exeter Leisure

Exeter is home to several local sporting events that can be taken in while visiting. Activities range from outdoor and adventure sports to swimming and bowling.

Local sports

The Exeter City Football Club is located at St James Park. This stadium is home to all of the city's professional football games. The city's rugby team, the Exeter Chiefs, recently moved from their old stadium, which was formerly on the county ground. Now, those who wish to watch a rugby match can catch the games at the new Sandy Park Stadium which is located just off the M5 motorway near Junction 30. The Exeter Racecourse features 17 racing days every year; and a complimentary shuttle bus is provided from the city centre.

Games

In the event that you'd like to get a little exercise or participate in a sport, there are several places worth checking out. Badminton, squash, swimming and several other activities can be enjoyed at the Riverside Leisure Centre on Cowick Street. Windsurfing, kayaking, rock-climbing, sailing and caving can be taken up at the Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre on Haven Road. There are several paintball sites in the area; a ski club and a riding school with an indoor and outdoor arena.
