Exeter Transport

Getting around Exeter is a straightforward process and visitors should have no trouble navigating the various possibilities. Buses ply several routes and loop across the city, and can be used to access most places in Exeter. An airport taxi service takes passengers from the terminal to both train stations. Taxis are a convenient means of travelling to local destinations and can be hailed from almost any location across town.

By train

Exeter Central Station and St Davids Station are not set up to facilitate cross-city transportation. Cross-country connections to London, Exmouth and Cornwall are possible.

By bus

City buses ply several routes from the airport and around the city of Exeter. Service H is designed to complement the TaxiBus service. Service 56 connects the airport to Exeter Bus Station, while service 60/380 heads to Ottery St Mary, then on to Honiton and Axminster. There are also several hotel shuttle buses that offer services to guests of their establishment.

Taxis

Corporate Cars is the only taxi company licensed to operate from Exeter Airport, and for this reason, taxis from the airport cost a little more than taxis caught from other destinations. There are, of course, plenty of other taxi firms represented in other areas around town. Visitors will find that it's not difficult to hail these cars in the street and hire a ride to any downtown location.

Tourist services

Local travel agents offer packages to view the sights of Exeter and the surrounding area. Many of these companies are represented at the airport itself; but even so, it always pays to book a service like this in advance to assure you get the exact information and tour package that you're looking for.

From the airport

Passengers arriving at Exeter Airport will have no trouble finding ground transportation to the city centre and surrounding areas. The TaxiBus service is a very convenient way to get to the city's two train stations; however, if there aren't at least three ticketed customers, the vehicle will be subject to regular taxi fares. Otherwise, taxis and city buses are on hand, and travel to all local destinations.
