Edinburgh Weather

In spite of its northern latitude, Edinburgh's climate is relatively mild and temperate. No matter what time of year you visit, you're likely to see a mixture of sun and precipitation. Weather conditions are most favourable from May to September, and it is during this time that the city comes alive with festivals that bring in the tourists and merry-makers.

Pleasant climate

During the summer, the city enjoys long days leading into prolonged evenings and twilight. Summer days are usually quite pleasant and enjoy lots of sunshine and mild temperatures. Springtime is a colourful season in Edinburgh, and the blossoming parks are complemented by pleasant weather.

Unpredictable weather

While often pleasant, Edinburgh's weather is unpredictable. Most summer days begin with a fine mist, which clears by the often bright sunny afternoon; however, even the sunniest and most pleasant days can quickly change to become misty and miserable. Winters are not particularly snowy, though the rains pick up late in the winter months.
