Getting to Dundee
Dundee is relatively easy to reach, with land options including bus, train and private/rental vehicle. If you wish to fly, then you should be aware that the city has a domestic airport with flights to and from London. International travellers will need to go via one of the UK's international airports.
By car
The city can be reached via the A90, which can be accessed from both Aberdeen to the north and Perth to the west. Once in the city, driving conditions are reasonable and public car parks are situated in various parts of the city centre, offering a large number of spaces.
By rail
Dundee is served by Taybridge Station, which maintains hourly connections with both Glasgow and Edinburgh, from which visitors can connect with a large number of mainline UK stations. Services also run to Aberdeen at intervals of 30 minutes.
By bus
A bus station is located just a short distance from the City Square and receives four National Express coaches per day from London. From Edinburgh or Glasgow, visitors can take the Scottish Citylink service. Regional bus services to destinations such as Blairgowrie, Forfar, Brechin and Arbroath are also available. Public buses serve the city providing coverage of all the major destinations within the centre and suburbs.
By air
Dundee Airport is a domestic facility located a mere two miles from the city centre. Regular daily flights operate to London City Airport, which maintains some international connections that may be useful for visitors travelling from overseas.
Taxis
Taxis are a convenient if not expensive way of getting around Dundee and can be found at ranks situated at strategic points around the city, hailed in the street or pre-booked by telephone. Taxis from ranks operate on a metered fare basis, while private hire cars generally charge by tariff.
