Be Safe in Douglas

The Isle of Man is a quiet, safe place to visit, with very little crime. Visitors are advised to look after their personal possessions when in areas that are frequented by tourists, where pick-pocketing is sometimes reported.

Safety

The annual Isle of Man TT motorcycle race always comes with its fair share of accidents and mishaps. Riders get killed and injured, but spectators are also at risk. The islands narrow, twisting roads mean that many over-enthusiastic onlookers venture too far out onto the track to get a good view. Riders then have no time and space to react, with collisions being a common part of the race. Safety measures are reviewed annually and injuries and fatalities have been drastically reduced in recent years. Spectators are strongly advised not to venture beyond the safety barricades on the course.
