Local cuisine

The waters around the Isle of Man are a rich source of Manx kippers and other mouth-watering specialities that are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Fresh crab, Manx lobster (which has a unique taste), Queenies (scallops cooked in garlic and butter) and Bonnag (a type of fruit scone) are popular choices on menus across the island.

Other specialities also include tender Manx lamb, tasty cheeses such as local black peppercorn mature cheddar, blueberry pie, preserves, ice cream and chocolate. Fish and chips are also a favourite, often washed down with local beer or Manx Spirit.

Where to eat

Many fine restaurants catering to tourists are located along the Promenade, offering spectacular views of the sea. Smaller establishments catering to locals and possibly offering more authentic cuisine can be found in the many small streets that lead off from the Promenade. Just take a stroll and youll come across something to your liking.
