Travel to Blackpool

A traditional coastal town in the northwest of England, Blackpool is famous across the country for its mix of unique, old-fashioned seaside charm with modern attractions and entertainments and a constant commitment to adding more to its already extensive list of draw cards. Blackpool sees an extensive number of tourists during the summer season and an equal number in the autumn, when the famous Blackpool Illuminations are the main attraction.

Transportation to Blackpool

Blackpool can be reached via a range of transportation options, depending on your point of origin. European visitors can fly into the citys international airport, while those already in the country can choose from rail, coach or private/rental vehicle options. Rail services are regular and convenient, while private coaches from regional and national destinations provide the cheapest means of accessing the town. Blackpool is well served by the M55 motorway.

What to see

The list of things to see in Blackpool is endless and day-trippers will struggle to fit everything in, while vacationers will easily find something to fill their holiday. When the weathers good, head for the beach, take a stroll along the fascinating Golden Mile or test your stomach on a few white-knuckle rides at the famous Pleasure Beach amusement park. If its a little dull outside, then head for the Blackpool Tower or for the Sandcastle water centre.

Daytrips

From Blackpool, there are a variety of destinations within easy driving distance; Lytham St Annes, Fleetwood and Bispham are all pleasant Lancashire towns offering their own unique charm and picturesque county scenery. Alternatively, the northwest has big cities such as Manchester and Liverpool, which can be reached within a couple of hours by car from Blackpool.

Activities and leisure

Blackpool has municipal sports centres for those visitors who are feeling active and want to swim, play some court-based sport or make use of the fitness facilities. Alternatively, some of the bigger hotels offer their own fitness centres, which are free-of-charge for guests. The beach can get a little crowded during the high season, but if you get up early, its the perfect place to take a morning run.

Safety issues

As a visitor destination, Blackpool comes with the same caveats that would be issued for any UK town or city, and those exercising a little common sense should enjoy a holiday or trip here without any unfortunate episodes. Paying attention to the location of your cash and valuables at all times can help to avert any incidents of theft and ensuring you have holiday insurance before you travel will give you the peace of mind you need to enjoy your trip.
