Getting to Blackpool
Blackpool is an extremely accessible city, with travel options available including airplanes, coaches, private/rental cars or trains. Once in the town, visitors can make use of the old-fashioned tram system, public buses, taxis or their own vehicles for getting around.
By car
Take the M6 motorway as far as Junction 32 before exiting onto the M55. Follow the signs for Blackpool, which will take you all the way to the town centre. Once in the town, there are a large number of parking spaces spread across an equally large selection of public car parks.
By rail
Blackpool has two railway stations: Blackpool North, at which the majority of connections with major UK stations exist, and the mainline station located at the Pleasure Beach on the Golden Mile. Both stations provide regular daily services with the frequency of services increasing during the high season.
By bus
National Express coaches offer connections to Blackpool from a large number of UK cities; visit their website for more information: www.nationalexpress.com/. The town centre has its own public bus services which run the length of the town and serves the suburbs and neighbouring towns such as St Annes.
By tram
Trams run the length of Blackpool Promenade from Pleasure Beach and the South Pier areas as far as Fleetwood.
By air
Blackpool International Airport is located just three miles from the town centre and serves scheduled flights from a number of European destinations including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Prague and Tenerife.
The airport is a single-terminal facility offering a good selection of passenger services and amenities including ATMs, bureaux de change, business and conferencing facilities, restaurants and a variety of shopping outlets.
Buses, trains and taxis provide ground transportation between the airport and the town centre and a variety of regional and national destinations.
Taxis
Taxis are readily available from outside the train station and from ranks situated around the city. Private hire cars can also be booked by telephone.
