Blackpool Entertainment

Evening entertainment options in Blackpool are dependent somewhat on the season, as outside the tourist season, many attractions shut down. Any time outside of the winter months however, youll find the bulk of entertainment venues open, meaning that of an evening, the famous Pleasure Beach operates until late and the Blackpool Tower offers live theatre and circus shows. Bars and nightclubs that cater to both the resident and visiting population are open year-round.

Eating out

If youre looking for a true British seaside experience, then haute cuisine will definitely not be on the menu for your evening meal and youre more likely to favour a traditional hot dog with onions from a seafront vendor or a plate of fish and chips at one of the many cafs lining the Golden Mile or one of those tucked away in the side streets that lie behind it. If you are hoping to have a meal at a respectable establishment, then Blackpool will not disappoint, offering a large selection of quality eateries with everything from English to continental and Asian cuisine on offer.

Local cuisine

Blackpool doesnt really have a local cuisine as such, but its certainly true to say that the town is famous for its fish and chips, which many locals and regular visitors will swear are the best you can get in the country. Doused in salt and vinegar and eaten out of paper with a plastic fork, they make a great lunch, evening meal or even just an afternoon snack if youre feeling excessive!

Visitors certainly dont come to Blackpool looking for health foods and a walk along the Golden Mile will present you with vendors selling all manner of fried and decadent delights such as hot dogs, burgers, popcorn and candy floss.

Theatre and music

The Blackpool Tower has its own theatre which presents traditional theatrical productions as well as magic shows and live music performances. The Blackpool Grand, Winter Gardens and North Pier, and Pleasure Beach theatres also present a variety of live productions which run throughout the year. Younger visitors looking for live music will find famous venues such as the Empress Ballrooms and a variety of bars offering local talent.

Shopping

The Golden Mile is chock-full of shops selling tacky souvenirs such as kiss me quick hats and edible items such as traditional seaside rock. All of the major high street shops are also represented, with many of them resident in the Hounds Hill Shopping Centre located next to the Tower.
