Cricket, athletics and football
Cricket has been around for hundreds of years in Birmingham and is home to Edgbaston, one of England’s foremost cricket grounds that regularly hosts international test matches. Edgbaston's Priory Club also hosts international tennis tournaments.
Athletics enthusiasts can see regular international meetings at the Alexander Stadium and at the National Indoor Arena (NIA); the latter being popular with many other sports and also staging the World Indoor Badminton Championships.
Aston Villa and Birmingham City football clubs are the two oldest clubs in the country with games being played every week during the football season.

Other activities
For those who prefer more sedate activities, Birmingham’s network of canals are located near the heart of the city and are the perfect place to enjoy a spot of walking or cycling. The canals are very scenic and offer respite from the bustle of the city. There are many popular pubs situated along the canals.
