Bath Weather

Bath has a temperate climate, albeit warmer than some other locations on a similar latitude due to the warming influence of the Gulf Stream. Bath is on average drier and warmer than more northerly parts of the United Kingdom, and experiences south-westerly prevailing winds from the North Atlantic current.

Annual mean temperatures are around 10.3C (50.5F), with extremes of 14.2C (57.5F) and 6.5C (43.7F). Bath also boasts about 1,645 annual hours of sunshine and 957 millimeters of rainfall. Baths temperature, sunshine duration and rainfall are higher than the United Kingdom averages. The average temperature in January is 5C (42F) and the average temperature in July is 14C (59F).

Spring and summer

March to May may be a little windy and rainy, but the weather is mostly pleasant and mild. Tourists begin coming to the area to visit the parks and gardens as they begin to flower. From May to September, the days progress from cool mornings to warm days. Be sure to dress in layers to stay comfortable throughout the day.

Winter

Snow is rare in the wintertime (December to February), but cold, damp, frost and ice are not. The sun comes out some of the time, but visitors are advised to bring warm coats, gloves, hats and waterproof shoes for wearing when out and about.
