Be Safe in Aberdeen
Aberdeen is generally a very safe destination for visiting holiday makers, and when strolling along the streets during daytime or at night you are not likely feel at risk or threatened. But, as with most destinations, the city has its fair share of criminals and unwanted elements and its a wise idea to follow some basic lines of action to ensure that you dont end up falling victim to them.
Safety
Make certain to safely lock away all your valuables, including passports, tickets, credit cards and cash in the hotel safe. Its recommended to carry with you no more than those things you need for that day. Look out for pickpockets, above all in tourist areas, on public transport and in markets and similar public places. When parking your car, be sure not to leave anything on show. Visitors carrying handbags are advised to wear them with the strap on the opposite shoulder to the hip it rests on, and those carrying backpacks should wear them over both shoulders. In case you fall victim to theft, please make sure you receive a police report.

Health
Urgent first aid or emergency treatment is free of charge for all visitors, after which fees are levied unless the visitors country is party to a reciprocal health agreement with the UK. Visitors from countries with no reciprocal agreement are recommended to take out some type of medical insurance. Several low cost plans are available; Americans, for example, can make use of Voyager Assistance Network. Australians should make sure that Medicare has an agreement with the British National Health Service.
