Istanbul Weather
Istanbul experiences four fairly distinct seasons, with hot summers and cold winters, and moderate seasons in between. As summers can be too hot for some people, the late spring and early autumn periods are preferable times to take a holiday in Istanbul.
Summer
Summers in Istanbul are hot and humid affairs with relatively low levels of precipitation. From June to September, you can expect average temperatures of around 28C, with evening temperatures remaining in the 20s (C). Summer is an okay time to visit Istanbul provided you are acclimatised or capable of dealing with the heat and humidity; otherwise you might find it a little uncomfortable.
Winter
The winter season is cold and snowfall is not uncommon, while rain is also a prevalent feature. Temperatures loiter around the 3C to 4C during the months of December, January and February. December sees the heaviest rainfall of the year, with around 105mm on average.
