Be Safe in Antalya
Driving in Turkey can be quite dangerous, as many drivers forget to indicate if they are turning and swerve out of their lanes quite frequently. Tourists are also advice to be careful with their belongings and if you are known to have problems with food, try to avoid the spicy Turkish food and don't eat at the food stalls.
Safety
Like many other popular tourist destinations, there are some cases of tourists having had their belongings snatched or finding that their wallets have been lost to pickpockets. Tourists are advised to leave their valuables, including passports, in the hotel safe, especially if they are going to the beach. Try and wear a money belt as opposed to having your wallet tucked into your trouser pocket and do not carry all of your money at one time. Also, be aware of your surroundings and hold onto your belongings at all times.
Health
There are no health risks to travellers at Antalya, but visitors are advised to be watchful of the sun, as it can get quite hot on summer afternoons. It certainly is not a pleasant experience getting sunburnt. Travellers are also advised to drink only bottled water and drinks to avoid getting diarrhoea. If you have a weak stomach, it is probably better to avoid eating at the stalls. It is good to know that Antalya has several private and competent hospitals.
Travel insurance
Having a travel insurance is a necessity because of the unpredictably of accidents and incidents that may spoil holiday experiences. A comprehensive travel insurance policy will cover lost luggage, delayed flights, loss of belongings through theft, medical emergencies and in some cases, evacuation.
