Valencia Restaurants

As one of the most important cities on the Mediterranean coast, Valencia excels in the cuisine department, with some world-famous dishes to its name and some fantastic eateries. Valencia is the home of paella, an irresistible saffron-flavoured dish consisting of rice with shellfish or chicken; rabbit is also a favourite ingredient in paella. One of the best restaurants in town for sampling paella is Samaruch, while Casa Navarro is particularly revered for its seafood.

Local cuisine

Many other popular rice dishes are also worth tasting in Valencia, owing to the accessibility of the right kind of fresh fruits and vegetables from the many fertile vegetable gardens of this region. Valencia is also known for its sweetmeats and bakery products. Bread comes in lots of shapes, sizes and flavours including panquemados (toasted bread) and Valencian doughnuts. Bakeries are ten to the dozen in Valencia.

Where to eat

The most popular areas in Valencia for dining and drinking are along the Paseo de Neptuno, which is by the beach and is well known as a dining and nightlife hub, while to the southwest and southeast of the city centre is a huge choice of eateries in every category.
