Getting to Torremolinos
Most travel to Torremolinos is served by air via the major regional hub at nearby Malaga Airport. Travel to the town from here is easy, with a variety of options available. Some travellers may also choose to journey by rail from Madrid, connecting to electric train for the final leg from Malaga.
By car
If you are driving from Malaga, take the N-340/E-15 west for Torremolinos. From Marbella, take the N-340/E-15 east.
Travel to Torremolinos by road from Barcelona is also possible, with a great road network that takes you across more than 1,000kms in about 9 hours. From Barcelona, go south on the A7, A92 and the E15 to Malaga.
Madrid is about 550kms from Torremolinos and accessible by heading south on the E5, E902 and the E15.
By rail
Electric trains to Torremolinos run from the main train station at Malaga and from the airport on a frequent daily schedule. Airport trains run from 06:13 to 22:43, at 13 and 43 minutes past the hour.
To connect to the electric train from Madrid, begin your journey by departing from Atocha or Chamartin stations. The Talgo 200 train runs several times daily and takes less than 3 hours to complete the journey.
By bus
Buses run frequently between Malaga and Torremolinos. The Malaga Bus Station, which services rides from many European cities, is located just to the west of the centre of town, next to the train station, and buses to Torremolinos depart every 15 minutes.
Many buses run from Madrid to Malaga throughout the day from the Estacion sur de Autobuses, located just south of Madrids city centre. Journey time is approximately 6 hours.
By air
Air travel to Torremolinos is most commonly accessed via the nearby Malaga Airport, with a 10-minute drive south to the resort. The airport manages flights from Spain and all across Europe, and has recently added service from several budget carriers.
The smaller Torremolinos Airport mainly handles charter flights. Travel from the airport to Torremolinos includes a variety of road options such as car hire, taxi, hotel shuttles and an electric train.
Malaga Airport consists of two adjacent terminals, which are connected internally. Serving as the regional hub, the airport is a well-equipped facility with many amenities. ATMs are positioned throughout both terminals and travellers in need of more complex financial services will find a full-service bank in the Arrivals Hall of Terminal 2. Postboxes are available at both terminals. For health needs, medical service is available and the main shopping area in Terminal 1 contains a pharmacy.
The main concentration of dining options is in Terminal 1s Centro Plaza, where hungry or thirsty travellers will find a variety of choices among its numerous bars, restaurants and fast-food chains, and shoppers can indulge in a few select shops. A few drinking and dining options are available in Terminal 2s Departures Hall as well as some duty-free and retail outlets.
Passengers requiring business or communication facilities may choose from Malaga Airports two VIP lounges, which are both equipped with fax and phone services. The airport lacks a designated business centre, but meeting rooms are available with prior arrangement through the airport.
Disabled passengers will find specially reserved parking spaces at the airport as well as assistance provided by airlines once within the terminals. Information kiosks are located in the Arrivals halls of both terminals and the Departures Hall of Terminal 2. Information officers are multilingual and easily spotted by their bright green jackets. Airlines also manage information desks in the Arrivals and Departures areas.
Taxis
Taxis from Malaga Airport to Torremolinos use a fixed fare system, and the airport levies a surcharge for these services. A few taxi companies operate in Torremolinos, and in general, taxi service is easy to obtain and very comfortable.
