Torremolinos Entertainment

The main attraction of Torremolinos is its beautiful white-sand beaches, and most visitors spend much of their day relaxing at the seaside or engaging in the multitude of water sports available to them. In between, visitors will find an array of drinking, dining and dancing options available to them.

Eating out

The cuisine of Costa del Sol and the greater Andalusian region holds sway over the larger menus youll find in Torremolinos restaurants. Although youll also find a truly international selection of fine food from around the world, as many upscale restaurants and hotels offer modern and cosmopolitan menus. Also, a dizzying array of tapas dishes await at the numerous beach bars.

Local cuisine

The most common local dish youll find is pescaito frito, a fried fish found in the waters close to Torremolinos. Most of the local foods as well as those across the Costa del Sol utilise olive oil, tomatoes, garlic and vinegar, and much of the cuisine naturally revolves around seafood. Be sure to try the paella as well as the variety of shellfish and the famous soups. Adobo, or marinated and lightly fried fish, is also popular, as is the tasty salt baked fish and the fish prepared with alioli, a garlic-mayonnaise mixture. To round off your meal, dont leave without trying the local dessert, tortas de aceite de Torremolinos.

Theatre and music

Daytime relaxation by the sea gives way at night to a boisterous party scene. The town is filled with nightclubs and discos, some with several dance floors and even swimming pools. Others may wish to check out Flamenco dancers at some of the smaller venues that advertise regular showings. Nightclubs and discos open around 22:00, with several located along Palma de Mallorca Avenue. Gay and straight travellers also flock to La Nogalera, where drag shows and exotic revues are popular.

Shopping

The pedestrian-only calle San Miguel offers shopping opportunities that range from village goods to boutique items, many of which are worth taking home from the Costa del Sol. The walk way lies off the main road in town and winds its way almost to the beach. Local jewellery and leather goods are popular, as are famed Spanish Lladro porcelain items.
