Seville Restaurants

Seville has a great selection of dining establishments and visitors will find the local cuisine is as authentic as it gets and by no means tailored to suit visitor's tastes, as it does in popular tourist resorts.

Sevillian cuisine takes its influences from traditional home cooking recipes and includes famous dishes such as sautéd kidneys with sherry, flamenco eggs, stuffed artichokes and fried fish. Tapas are highly popular and are basically a series of small dishes made from meat, vegetables and cheese. The tradition of eating tapas is known as ‘ir de tapeo’ and is the basis on which many of the local culinary customs have become established. Visitors can get a true taste for Sevillian food by eating tapas, since the opportunity to try a wide variety of dishes is available in a single sitting. The Santa Cruz district is one of the best places to head for tapas bars, but it’s fair to say the city is filled with establishments of this kind and you’ll probably struggle to choose between them. Wine is traditionally served alongside tapas dishes and other Sevillian favourites and is generally cheap and of reasonable quality. The house wines in most restaurants are normally perfectly drinkable.

The city has a number of upmarket establishments where you can spend a lot of money on a meal, but the food won’t necessarily be any better than in a local,  much cheaper establishment. International cuisine can also be found and restaurants on offer include French, Italian and Chinese.
