San Sebastian Health And Safety

Driving around San Sebastian is usually safe and comfortable; however, the coastal roads in the region are often shrouded in fog, so due care should be taken when driving, slowing down or pulling over depending on the prevailing road conditions.

Safety

For the most part of the year, San Sebastian is one of the safest resort towns in Europe; however, during summer, the hordes of tourists attract roaming pickpockets and bag snatchers therefore visitors should be vigilant and pre-empt any possibility of theft by keeping valuables close to the body and a firm hand on purses, day packs and the like. The better hotels have safes and adequate security, so if you are staying at a quality accommodation establishment, it may be best to leave non-essential valuables in your room safe.

Health

There are no public health concerns in San Sebastian and you should have no concerns if you are up-to-date with you vaccinations. However, there is a very slight risk of hepatitis A from unhygienic food preparation, so either take extra care when you eat and drink bottled water, or get a vaccination prior to your trip.

Travel insurance

Even the healthiest and most safety conscious person can have a bad experience in San Sebastian, and the last thing you want to worry about while travelling is wondering how to replace essential items or pay for an unforeseen hospital bill. Travel insurance is reliable and affordable and gives great peace of mind, allowing you to concentrate on enjoying your trip to the full.
