Blessed with a nearly perfect geographical situation in Spains northeast in the Costa Durada, Reus is within easy reach of the majority of the significant cities and villages of the region. The city boasts a fine city centre filled with restaurants and shops. With interesting historical architecture and many other things to see and do, it is the ideal location to spend some time.
Transportation to Reus
Reus Airport is located just 2kms from the city and about 80kms south of Barcelona on the CN-420 road to Tarragona. The majority of the flights in the region arrive at Barcelona International Airport. There is a direct motorway connection and the trip to Reus can be made in less than one hour. From the railway station in Reus daily trains depart to Barcelona. The trip by train from Barcelona to Reus takes about 55 minutes.
It is easy to reach Reus by car, since it is positioned near the Autopista del Mediterraneo, the principal motorway going north to south along Spains eastern coast. From the Autopisto, you can follow the T-315, which runs directly into Reus. If you are approaching from Spains western parts, you will most likely want to drive along the major E-90 motorway, from which you can join the N-420 motorway towards Baden.
What to see
Reus is probably most famous for being the home of Gaudi, the legendary architect. Reus offers some fascinating attractions. If you love architecture or enjoy modernist constructions then Reus wont disappoint you, as many of the Spanish renowned modernist architects lived in the city for a certain part of their lives. From Reus it is also easy to reach the Costa Durada and the astonishing town of Tarragona, which make it a perfect base for exploring the many fascinating sites nearby.
Day trips
There is the option to make plenty of day trips from Reus, both for those enjoying hiking through the local orchards and green hills and for travellers wishing to participate in one of the numerous activities specific to the region.
Catalonia is renowned for its shooting, hunting and horse-riding. All these activities have recently become popular among visitors.
Activities and leisure
Reus is an ideal place to relax and absorb the laid-back atmosphere. Culture buffs will love its grand theatres and the cafs in town are relaxed. Shopping facilities and restaurants are outstanding in Reus. However, the place is a sleepy little town and if its vibrant nightlife you want, you should go to nearby Salou.
Safety issues
Reus is a very safe town but you should be aware that the city still has a small number of petty thieves and pickpockets who prey on unsuspecting holidaymakers. Be extra cautious when you are at the railway station or in a busy area like the shopping mall of El Tomb de Reus. There arent any obvious health risks in Reus. Take decent measures to prevent sunburn as the Mediterranean sun is very strong. We highly advise you take out travel insurance for you or your family.
