Be Safe In Reus

Reus is one town where you wont have much to worry about in the way of personal safety. It is a sophisticated town and the people who live here are friendly and welcoming.

Safety

Although you are unlikely to run into any trouble during a visit to Reus, be aware that the city still has a small number of pickpockets and petty thieves who prey on unsuspecting tourists. Keep an eye out when you are at the train station or in a busy spot like the shopping mecca of El Tomb de Reus. Crowds make it easy for pickpockets to ply their trade. You can reduce the risks by keeping cameras and bags slung over your shoulder and your valuables concealed at all times.

Health

Reus offers no obvious health risks. The tap water is safe to drink and the quality of food in the restaurants is excellent. If you head over to the beach or to Port Aventura theme park, be aware that the Mediterranean sun is very strong. Wearing sun block and a hat will help you avoid getting sunburn. You should also drink plenty of water wherever you go, as the heat and sun can quickly dehydrate you before you realise it.

Travel insurance

No matter how many precautions you take when you travel, the occasional bit of bad fortune can happen, turning your vacation into a nightmare. Having travel insurance will ease your mind during your trip and alleviate the problems that arise in cases of theft or property loss, which might occur on your holiday.

Visitors who are EU citizens are covered for medical expenses in Spain, but those from other countries should ensure they have comprehensive health insurance. Medical costs in foreign countries can often be unexpected and expensive. The relatively low price of travel insurance is well worth it in the event that you require it.
