Be Safe In Marbella

The streets of Marbella are a relatively safe place to be and in the evening you’ll see visitors of all ages strolling around enjoying a carefree holiday.  However, this is not to say that Marbella is a crime-free city and holidaymakers should take basic precautions, so as to decrease their chances of being victims of robbery.

Safety

Bag snatchers and pickpockets are as prevalent in Marbella as in any of Spain’s popular resorts; hence keeping cash and valuables secure about your person is a prerequisite to going anywhere in the city, especially at night. With the area attracting large numbers of wealthy people, there are also a significant number of conmen and fraudsters operating in the area. Be wary of timeshare sellers, they may not be what they seem and don’t give your bank or credit card details to anyone unless you are absolutely 100 per cent certain of their authenticity.

Health

Marbella is a civilised city in a well developed country and hence it has no issues with sanitation or disease. The water is safe to drink, but perhaps not palatable on account of its high chlorine content, so visitors may instead choose to buy the cheap bottled water that is readily available. EU visitors unfortunate enough to fall ill while on holiday in Marbella will benefit from free treatment, provided they have the necessary documentation from their home country.
