Lanzarotes selection of sporting activities are based largely around the sea and lovers of water sports will find themselves more than amply catered for. In the popular resorts, a variety of land-based activities are also available.

Football

In terms of spectator sports, Lanzarote differs from much of Spain and other Spanish islands in that it has no bullfighting scene. Football fans, however, have the chance to indulge their passions with the islands official team, Unin Deportiva Lanzarote, playing in the Segunda Divisin B - Group 1. The teams stadium, Estadio Ciudad Deportiva de Lanzarote, is located in Arrecife and has a capacity for 7,000 seated spectators. Visitors are welcome to attend games and tickets can be bought direct from the stadium itself.

Water sports

If youre feeling active, then head for the beach, where you can take part in activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling, surfing, windsurfing, waterskiing and fishing. Away from the water, youll find opportunities for horseback riding, mountain biking, hang-gliding and hiking, while at some hotel and apartment complexes at the popular resorts, youll find fitness centres and tennis courts. Golf fans have the chance to play a few holes at the Costa Teguise golf course.
