Gran Canaria Weather

Gran Canaria’s climate relies on a number of factors including its position in relation to the Gulf Stream, its geographical latitude and its ocean winds. Year-round warm weather makes the island popular with visitors from all over the world, especially those looking to escape the cold seasons of their home countries.

Summer

Temperatures are rarely excessive at either end of the scale and during the summer months (June to September) they range from 26ºC to 30ºC, while rainfall during this period is generally low. The island’s trade winds keep the summer season from being unbearably hot. During the winter (November to February), average maximum temperatures are around 23ºC, with rainfall still relatively low although greater than at other times.

Any season is a good time to visit Gran Canaria and it all depends on what kind of a holiday you are looking for. Sun worshippers looking to spend lazy days on the beach and to return home with a tan will prefer to come during the summer months, while those looking to be more active and spend more time sightseeing might prefer to visit during any one of the other seasons.
