Eating out

Between them, the dining hotspots of Queensway Quay, Marina Bay and Casemates Square provide rich culinary hunting grounds. Hungry tourists are guaranteed to find something to suit their taste buds and wallets, with everything from traditional Spanish, English, North African and international flavours on offer.

All styles of eateries are available including cafs and international restaurants as well as traditional pubs and modern bars. English-style pubs feature heavily, with the Angry Friar being a popular hangout that offers a traditional English menu including steak and kidney pie and fish and chips.

Local cuisine

With Gibraltars only international border being with Spain, a visit here is a great opportunity to try some traditional Andalucian dishes. Specialities to try include Jambugo ham; green olives; rinones al jerez (kidneys in sherry); gazpacho (soup made from breadcrumbs and pureed vegetables); rabo del toro (bulls tail with a tomato-based sauce); kebabs; and numerous seafood-based dishes.

Theatre and music

Theatre and concert goers should not miss a performance at St Michaels Cave; this unique setting makes for a particularly memorable experience, with the natural auditorium's fantastic acoustics. It is also regularly used for staging performances and concerts.

Shopping along Main Street, the principal shopping thoroughfare, will reveal a wide range of goods, with bargains including designer clothing, jewellery, glassware, leather goods, watches, glasses and electronics as well as alcohol and tobacco.
