Watersports

Water sports, of all kinds, are some of the most popular leisure activities to be found on the island. The beautiful sandy beaches and warm waters are perfect for those looking to enjoy the sea. The annual world speed-surfing championships are held every summer in Fuerteventura, however the waves off the southern peninsula attract surfers all year-round. The east coast offers many water sports including surfing and scuba diving, but currents can get very strong, so only confident and strong swimmers are recommended to surf here.

Golfing

Many people travel to Fuerteventura in the hope of playing a couple of rounds of golf. The island’s first golf course, set in a stunning location with views of the mountains and sea, is in Caleta de Fuste. There is also a mini golf course near the beach for those who don’t take the sport so seriously.

Out and About

Walking is a popular way to spend the cooler evenings, taking in the stunning scenery and interesting sights. There are walking trails to be found in the sand dunes of Corralejo and the island’s nature reserves are ideal for walking.

Spas

The marine spa of Thalaventura is a new addition to the island and perfect for those looking for a more relaxed way to spend their leisure time. The spa is part of the Barceló club complex in Caleta de Fuste, but unlike the club, the spa is open to everyone. You will find steam rooms, saunas, spa pools, hairdressers and beauty therapists all available to heighten the experience.
