When visiting Formentera, you must ensure that you have travel insurance. Despite the island being considered to be very safe, there are still risks of losing your belongings or having them stolen. Violent crime is very rare, but pickpockets and bag snatchers often target tourists, many of whom leave themselves wide open to crime by not being alert. Travel insurance is the best way to ensure that you are never left short if you are unlucky enough to be a victim of crime. You must also ensure that you have adequate medical insurance. If you are travelling from a country within an EU, you must have a valid EU health card, but if you are travelling from outside the EU, you must make sure that you have private medical cover.
