Formentera Leisure
Formentera is an island ideal for cycling. There is a network of cycle lanes on all the main roads and specially designed tracks which allow cyclists to tour the main attractions. Many parts of this track are the old country lanes that are now known as ‘green routes’ and are spread out all over the island. For many, a bicycle is the only means of transport and the fact that bicycles are preferred over cars ensures that pollution is minimal and therefore the air is fresh and pleasant.
Water sports
The crystal clear waters surrounding the island make it a hotspot for water sports. Rowing is a favourite pastime for both visitors and locals. The lakes found on the island are ideal for a day’s rowing and boats can be hired, so you can take things at your own pace. Sailing is also popular and many ostentatious yachts can be found moored in the port. The water is very calm and clean, making snorkelling a must when visiting Formentera, as some wonderful species of fish and other sealife can be spotted here.
One of the best ways to experience and enjoy life on the island is to walk around. Local life can be observed in every corner of the island and the sights are better appreciated on foot.
