Cordoba Transport

There is not an extensive public transport service in Cordoba, but the city’s buses, taxis and trains are very reliable, efficient, clean and comfortable. Getting around the city can be done with ease. Most of the major attractions are located in the Old City and everything is within walking distance including the bus and train stations. Walking is also beneficial, as it helps you with finding your bearings and you will see more than if you were seated on a bus.

By train

The national train service in Spain connects Cordoba with many other cities throughout the whole country. Seville can be reached in under an hour and Madrid in less than 2 hours. There is no Metro service in Cordoba; all of the trains are fast AVE services running to national destinations, passing through regional stations along the way. Tickets can be bought at ticket machines in the stations or in advance online. Ticket prices are very reasonable and trains feature a wide range of facilities with a number of different classes to choose from.

By bus

Buses throughout Spain are all single decker, with a pay-when-you-board system for single journeys. Aucorsa manage the buses in Cordoba and routes run throughout the city. They are reliable and efficient, with an average wait rarely exceeding 15 minutes. Local buses can get very crowded and noisy, although they are reliable, cheap and efficient. The first bus starts at about 06:30 and they run until midnight. Newsagents and bus stations sell multi-tickets in packs of 10 at a discount.

Taxis

You will have no problem finding a taxi in Cordoba. They can be hailed on the street as well as from one of the numerous taxi stations located around the city.  Taxis can also be booked in advance. Taxis are metered, with the fare depending on the time of day and whether or not it is a public holiday. If you take a taxi from the train station, you will be charged extra, along with an additional charge for any luggage that you may have. If you are dissatisfied with a driver, note down his licence plate number and report him.

Tourist services

There are no tourist services available in Cordoba, but some of the better quality hotels offer shuttle services. However, they can be more expensive than regular taxis and buses.

From the airport

Cordoba Airport is only 10 minutes away from the city centre by car. Mondays to Fridays, buses run 15 times a day from 06:30 to 22:30; on Saturdays there are 11 services a day and Sundays have nine services. Taxis can be found outside the airport or hailed from the street. The AVE railway station can be found in downtown Cordoba and offers high-speed services to destinations across Spain.
