Getting To Cadiz

Cadiz is situated on the southwest coast of Spain, in the Andalusia region, and is easily accessed by a variety of means. Visitors with private vehicles or hire cars can drive from France and will find Spains motorway network is easily negotiable for the journey south to the city. Various public transportation options are available, with air connections to either Seville or Jerez airports providing the most popular means of reaching the city.

By car

From Marbella, take the N339 to Sologrande then the A340 until it becomes the N340, which goes direct to Cadiz via Tarifa, Barbate and Chiclana de la Frontera. From Jerez Airport, drivers can take the A4 direct to the city; the same road also leads south to Cadiz from the city of Seville and its airport. Seville is connected to the rest of Spain by a number of motorways and freeways.

By rail

Rail services run from both Madrid and Malaga to Seville, from where its possible to take a connecting bus to Cadiz. From both cities, the journey is 2 hours 30 minutes. From Madrid, trains depart hourly between 07:00 and 22:00, while from Malaga, they operate at 07:45, 10:40, 14:00, 16:35 and 20:08.

By bus

From outside of Spain, its possible to take the Eurolines bus service to Madrid, with regular service operating every day of the week; visit their website for more details: http://www.eurolines-pass.com/index.php?class=123. From Madrid, you can take the Secorbus service direct to Cadiz, with both day and night services available. The journey takes 8 hours and buses terminate at the station at the entrance to town. Once in Cadiz, the number 1 bus service travels the length of the city, connecting the old part with the new part.

By air

Jerez Airport is situated on the outskirts of Jerez de la Frontera, just eight kilometres northeast of Jerez, in the province of Cadiz. The airports status as an international facility has increased significantly over the last decade and it now sees flights arriving from EU countries such as the UK, the Netherlands and Germany.

Facilities at the airport include a caf and a restaurant for dining and refreshments, and both duty-free and duty-paid shopping outlets for those looking for last minute essentials or cut-price luxury items. A single car park is available offering options for both short-stay and long-stay options; the facility is located opposite the terminal building.

By ferry

Ferries to Cadiz are available from mainland Spain and selected Spanish islands. Services operate from Las Palmas, Sta Cruz de la Palma and Arrecife. All routes operate a single weekly service.

Taxis

Taxis are available from outside of the airport terminal, providing services to Cadiz. Cabs are metered and while some drivers may speak English, its wise to have a phrasebook and a map handy to help communicate your desired destination.
