Benidorm Key Attractions

The obvious allure of Benidorm is its outstanding blue flag beaches and vibrant nightlife, yet there is so much more here in the form of interesting sideline attractions. There are water sports galore as well as theme, water and popular safari parks within a few minutes drive of the resort and some curious museums. So, even on an unlikely rainy day, there are still many options in Benidorm.

Aqualandia Water Amusement Park

The Aqualandia Water Amusement Park is one of Benidorms favourite attractions, especially on hot summer days. Located close to the centre of Benidorm, the park has several top-class water slides and swimming pools as well as rapids and giant waterfalls. Aqualandia also offers childrens pools, cafs and restaurants.

Beaches

Benidorms number one attraction is its fine beaches. The resort suffers at the hands purists, but its beaches are very good and extend for miles along two main bays. The main beaches are Playa del Levante and Playa del Poniente; Levante Beach being the most popular and lying right in front of the majority of the resorts accommodation. Poniente lies just to the west of Levante around a small peninsular, while Playa del Malpas is also popular. All beaches have outstanding facilities for families and singles, with hundreds of umbrellas and lounges and all water sports are available. The bathing is also great, but if you want something quieter than lively Levante, head for the other two beaches.

House Museum

For a slice of Spanish culture, head for the House Museum which features Benidorms finest collection of art. Situated in an affable part of Benidorm, in the centre of town, the museums displays of paintings and sculptures are sometimes bolstered by special seasonal exhibitions.

Mundomar Marine Exotic Animal Park

Situated just outside Benidorm, the Mundomar Marine Exotic Animal Park is a safari park that is suitable for families with children. This interesting attraction features numerous colourful animals including dolphins, penguins and a variety of exotic birds. The underwater viewing areas are a big hit, as is the play area, while a restaurant and a souvenir shop are also on-site. There are also several other safari parks around Benidorm.

Terra Mitica

A fine addition to the Benidorm experience, Terra Mitica is a theme park packed with numerous rides and games. Located just a few minutes drive outside Benidorm, the park includes lightning-fast roller coasters and video machines built up around a Mediterranean theme. The most popular roller coasters are: Alucinakis, Tren Bravo, Tizona and the wooden Magnus Colossus.

Water sports

As with other resorts on the beautiful Costa Blanca, Benidorms sea temperature is lovely and warm during most of the year, making messing about in the water all the more pleasant. An array of water sports attractions are available here including: waterskiing, jet-skiing, windsurfing, sailing, scuba diving and snorkelling. Paragliding is also available and boat trips are popular.

Wax Museum

Although not quite up to the standards of the world-renowned London and Paris Madame Tussauds wax museums, the Wax Museum in Benidorm offers a fun alternative to the beach with its many life-like wax models. Brainchild of waxwork sculptor Jose Ballester, there are over 100 models of famous faces here including: Elvis, famous actors, world figures, politicians and royal family members. The Museum of Erotic Art is also housed in the Wax Museum building.
