Entertainment In Benidorm
Entertainment in Benidorm ranges from the ubiquitous tapas bars, pubs, clubs and nightclubs to terraced waterfront cafs, restaurants and bars, cabarets acts and dancers, and even a Medieval Tournament. There are also several cinemas here and the range of eateries is outstanding.
Eating out
Benidorm offers an array of eateries catering to just about every palate, with dishes from all over the world available, including traditional Spanish, English, Chinese, Indian, Italian and Mexican restaurants. Benidorm also has many excellent seafood restaurants as well as row upon row of fast-food joints, where dishes such as burgers, fries and pizzas are on the menu.
The beachfront is the best place in Benidorm to start looking for eligible eateries, where numerous terraced cafs, restaurants and bars offer great dining, often with fantastic views. This area is also a good bet for finding seafood restaurants, while for traditional Spanish food, diners should head for Benidorm's Old Town district. Benidorm is also home to many thousands of visiting British tourists and there are plenty of English-style restaurants around the Place de la Constitutin that serve up some hearty food such as fish and chips, steaks and full English breakfasts.
Local cuisine
The ever popular tapas bars are a staple diet in most places in Spain and Benidorm has legions of them, mainly along Santo Domingo Street, known locally as 'Tapas Alley'. The Levante and Rincn de Loix areas are known for their seafood restaurants, noodle bars and pub grub, and you will also find a healthy selection of local restaurants serving up paella and risotto. The best place for traditional Spanish fare, however, is the Old Town.
Nightlife
Benidorm is loaded to the hilt with bars, pubs, nightclubs and live music joints, and is perhaps the busiest resort on the Mediterranean for nightlife. Everything from live music to karaoke, drag shows and quiz nights are hosted nightly in the many nightspots. Levante Beach is a good area for nightclubs, as is the top road, while the Old Town is the gay area, characterised by narrow streets and small bars.
Shopping
Benidorm has many gift shops that cater to European tourists and its numerous supermarkets sell brand-name alcohol and cigarettes at cheap prices. The Wednesday open-air market is also well worth a look, as is the car boot sale (rastro) in the railway station car park. Nearby, Alicante is also a shoppers paradise, with its fashionable boutiques and souvenir shops.
