Be safe in Benalmadena
Benalmadena is one of the safest holiday destinations along the Costa del Sol, although the threat of being duped by a scam artist or having your wallet stolen by a pickpocket is all too real. The high summer temperatures are also something else to be aware of when visiting Benalmadena in the high season.
Safety
Pickpockets are a constant threat in Benalmadena, both at the beach or in the town, and visitors should remain especially vigilant at popular tourist attractions and at the bus and train stations. Muggings and violent crime are rare in Benalmadena, but to be on the safe side, take a taxi to your hotel after a night out, especially if you have a long way to go.
Spanish roads are generally in very good condition, but drivers should be careful when travelling along the coastal road and never leave valuables in the car while unattended.

Health
As with the rest of the Costa del Sol, temperatures in Benalmadena can get extremely hot in the summer months and common sense dictates that sun block should be used and lots of water consumed. Benalmadenas beaches are safe to bath and swim at, and the tap water is potable; however, many visitors choose to opt for bottled water.
Benalmadena has a hospital, several clinics and pharmacies, and citizens of EU countries can receive free healthcare here on presentation of a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Citizens of other countries who cannot take advantage of reciprocal healthcare agreements will have to pay for any treatment received.
Travel insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance can be had for a reasonable price, where coverage for theft, baggage loss, accidents and medical eventualities can be included. Most visitors have an incident-free holiday when visiting Benalmadena, but you wouldnt want to be without travel insurance if something were to happen.
