Alicante Leisure

Alicante is perhaps most known for its wonderful beaches, and so beach and water sports are a common choice for tourists. There is also an excellent theme park, and plenty of opportunities to play outdoor sports.

Water sports

Most of the popular water sports are available here on the major beaches. For scuba diving and snorkelling the Isla de Tabarca is the best place to head. The area was once a common hideout for pirates, but today the beautiful clear waters are part of a protected marine park, with some great snorkelling and scuba possibilities.

There are several boat trips every day to the Isla de Tabarca, and it is certainly worth taking advantage of one while you are staying in Alicante. Sailing is also very popular  and there are a number of sailing clubs with close to 1000 moorings.

Terra Mtica Theme Park

The Terra Mitica Theme Park is one of the most popular leisure activities in the Alicante area. The park contains five themed zones: Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia, and the Greek Islands. There is a huge range of rides, depending on how much of an adrenaline rush you want. There is a very pleasant boat ride from Egypt to Iberia, which gives you good views of the entire park. There are also traditional roller coasters, dark rides, the water themed Argos' Rapids, among many others. The park has a number of cafés and eating options and is a great day out for all the family.

Other sport

With its mild climate Alicante is a good place to go for sport and outdoor leisure activities. There are plenty of different facilities around the town, with swimming, football, tennis, golf, and horseback riding all popular and readily available. The Panteón de Quijano, La Ereta Park and Portal de Elche are small parks with greenery and football, basketball and tennis facilities. Tossal Mountain, just outside Alicante, has mini-golf and areas designated for joggers and skaters.
