Bucharest Weather

Bucharest has a climate akin to the rest of the inland continent, with cold winters and hot, dry summers. However, because the city is heavily urbanised, temperatures tend to be warm all year round when compared to the suburbs and countryside.

Summer

Temperatures in July and August average about 23°C, although the city centre can rise to 35°C or 40°C in the height of the season. The summer months are marked by average precipitation and low humidity, and occasional storms during this time can bring heavy rainfall and fairly violent winds.

Winter

Lying on the Romanian Plain, Bucharest can experience fairly windy winters, although the effect is lessened by the mass of buildings in the urban centre. Winter temperatures often fall below 0°C, but rarely lower than -10°C.

Rain
Spring and autumn bring frequent rainfall to Bucharest, although the rains are much milder than in summer. Temperatures in these seasons range from 18°C to 22°C.
