Azores Weather

The Azores enjoy favourable temperatures year round, owing to the effects of the Gulf Stream current, which circles the Atlantic from the Gulf of Mexico. The climate is typically temperate and rainfall can occur at any time, helping to coin the phrase for the islands’ climate: ‘three seasons in one day’. Summer temperatures are rarely too hot and winter temperatures rarely too cold, making the islands a good bet for European tourists out of season.

Summer

Although the weather on the Azores is not guaranteed in the summer, this is the best time to visit for beachgoers, with temperatures of between 15°C and 27°C and higher. Coastal areas are refreshing and warm, while inland can get fairly humid in the summer months of June to September.

Spring, autumn and winter

Spring and autumn temperatures are very good and at these times, the islands are less busy than in the summertime. Temperatures range from about 11°C and 24°C between April and May, and September and October, while winter weather (November to March) features slightly lower temperatures and often wet and windy days.
