Be Safe in Albufeira
Tourists usually enjoy a trouble-free holiday here, but there are some health and safety issues to consider. The sun can be fierce in the summer and precautions should be taken. A good travel insurance policy is a prerequisite.
Health
In the summer, temperatures can be very high, with long hours of sunlight, and sunburn and sunstroke are the biggest health risks at this time. Take care, particularly between midday and 15:00, when the sun is at its strongest.
Although the tap water is officially considered drinkable, for a short trip, most tourists tend to stick to bottled water.
Safety
Albufeira is a relatively safe place to visit, but can get very busy in the summer, so visitors should take care with their belongings in busy areas and on the beach, and of course, if you go out to party at night.
If you hire a car, be aware that some of the roads are not that well maintained, so err on the side of caution, and as with any busy tourist location; do not leave valuables in the car.
Travel insurance
As with any trip, taking out a thorough insurance policy is an absolute prerequisite. If you are unlucky, with a good insurance policy, you can be sure that the stress of your misfortune will be minimised and hopefully your holiday will not be ruined.
