Krakow Weather

Krakow has a temperate climate, enjoying features of both the moderate maritime conditions of the Atlantic on the west coast and the harsh continental weather of Eastern Europe. The result is a generally mild, four season climate, with extremes in both summer and winter. One thing you can count on is the unpredictable nature of Polish weather, so always carry an umbrella or a rain jacket. August sees the most precipitation, with May, June and July not far behind.

The best of times

Krakow’s perfect springtime brings the sweet smell of flowery blossoms to the city from mid-April through May. April is often the sunniest month of the year, although the weather from May to October is generally quite pleasant. The famed Polish autumn is also a wonderful season in Krakow, as the temperatures drop into a refreshing 15°C, and the air is dry and crisp. The rich colours of the dying leaves against a deep blue sky make this perhaps the best time of year to visit.

The worst of times

For most of the year, Krakow has some of the nicest weather in the world. But come November, the days get shorter and darker. Bitter cold mixed with fog and snow dominates every day until March. During winter, Krakow averages around an hour and a half of actual sunshine per day and the temperatures stays at or below freezing.
