The Hague has a good range of accommodation to suit everybody, from backpackers to business travellers. If you are after the best service and well equipped rooms with modern facilities then the city's luxury hotels won't disappoint. All the main hotel chains are represented as well as many independent ones. At the other end of the scale there are a couple of good hostels which are centrally located and ideal for exploring the city. They are well appointed and have comfortable furnishings together with the normal range of facilities. If you are staying for a longer period then you might want to consider booking a fully serviced apartment, which are generally cheaper than hotel accommodation of an equivalent quality.

Where to stay

Most tourists head for the hotels centrally located around the tourist district or at the beach resorts. Prices tend to be more expensive so you might prefer to stay in the city suburbs where there are a number of other options. There is an extensive choice of bed & breakfast accommodation and simple family-run hotels, often situated in beautiful old buildings and residential areas. You'll find the largest concentration of hotels and guest houses near the beach at Scheveningen. Bungalows and apartments are mostly located just outside the city in the wooded surroundings of the Duingalows or Duinrell. There are some good places in the dunes near the beach at Kijkduin and some hotels in Scheveningen also offer apartments. There are a number of campsites about 30 minutes drive from the city centre including Wassenaar, Kijkduin and Leidschendam.

Finding accommodation in The Hague is never going to be a problem, but despite the broad range, places can be often be full during the summer period so booking ahead is essential. At other times it's less important, and during the winter months you'll be spoiled for choice and should find the rates considerably cheaper.
