Turin Leisure

Turin offers a good selection of sporting and leisure activities, with the emphasis on participation as opposed to spectating. The city was host of the 2006 Winter Olympics and has since established itself as a city of sporting repute.

Spectator sports

Football lovers will have an opportunity to indulge their love of the game at the Stadio Grande Torino, where Torino Football Club play their local games. The team are one of Italy’s biggest and play high profile matches that are well supported by the locals. Tickets can be purchased directly from the stadium. The Turin Marathon is an annual event that also draws much support from both locals and visitors, and sees runners from all over the world arrive to compete.

Participant sports

The selection of participant sports is considerably more varied and includes golf, horseback riding, swimming, volleyball and basketball. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could always take on a bungee jump at Veglio Mosso, located 90kms away between Turin and Milan. In the winter, the city is a popular place for winter sports enthusiasts on account of a number of ski resorts such as Bardonecchia, Sauze d'Oulx and Sestrière being located close to the city. Downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, speed and figure skating are all popular at the resorts. The mountainous ranges around the city are also ideal for climbing and it’s possible to find centres in the city, from where you can arrange climbing trips.
