Naples Weather

As a southern Mediterranean coastal city, Naples experiences mild but wet winters and hot, reliably sunny summers. It does get busy however and the best time to visit is perhaps during the spring and autumn.

Summer

In the height of the summer, temperatures can be a scorching 30°C, but a steady sea breeze means you hardly notice the sun until the sunburn appears on your skin. There is virtually no rain during this time and with the reliably sunny weather, Naples and its adjacent coast is one of the Mediterranean’s most popular coastal destinations.

Spring and autumn

As with the rest of Europe, Italians flock to the holiday spots in August, making an already crowded city even worse; sticky and sweltering in places. If you can avoid this time then plan to visit between April and June when accommodation is more reasonable and the weather milder. Another good time is September or October, at the end of the season, when the weather is still quite pleasant.

Winter
A typical Mediterranean climate means wet and miserable winters, though not quite as bad as the rest of Europe. The temperatures are mild, though you will need a rain jacket or sweater on cloudy days. Chancing it for an off-season weekend might end up as a sunny winter weekend, even if a cool wind comes off the sea.
