Leisure Options In Milan

Milan has a huge amount of leisure facilities for lovers of spectator sports and many types of outdoor activity. Italians are particularly passionate about football and Milan has two of the country’s top teams: Inter Milan and AC Milan. Games can be watched at the 80,000 capacity Meazza (San Siro Stadium).

Golf

Milan is surrounded by outstanding landscapes which provide for some superb golf courses for all levels. Many of these courses allow for visitors to play a round, with equipment and golf buggy hire available. Le Rovedine Golf Club is one of the city’s best courses and is just four miles from the city centre, while nearby Lake Maggiore also offers some great fairways.

Swimming, cycling and jogging

With the blistering summer heat, it should come as no surprise that Milan has a number of top quality swimming and leisure pools, where facilities for families with children are great. Lido (open June to September) is the main swimming pool in the city and comes with slides and other attractions, while Piscina Giovanni da Procida and Piscina Solari are better aimed at serious swimmers. Milan also has many city parks with jogging and bicycle paths for those who enjoy getting out and about. Bikes can be hired from a number of reputable places in the city.

Water sports

Owing to the mountainous nature of the terrain to the north of Milan, there are several beautiful lakes dotting the landscape where tourists can enjoy a numerous water sports activities including: windsurfing, water-skiing, canoeing and sailing as well as fishing. Lake Garda, to the east of Milan, is the most popular tourist lake in the region.
