Public access grounds

The Sciorba sports centre and all-weather complex caters for a very wide range of interests. One of the best municipal sports centres, it has four swimming pools, two of which are covered, and an Olympic pool with a gallery for 600 people. There is a soccer pitch surrounded by a running track, two outdoor swimming pools and a 50 meter indoor pool. During the summer season, Sciorba becomes a 'beach' for the city, and is especially favoured by those who don’t have the time to go to the sea. Similar to a hangar, the Sciorba transforms into an open-air swimming pool.

The Genoa Aquarium transforms into a 'party square' in the winter, allowing Genoans to skate on the ice amid the beauty of a major Mediterranean port. There is also a solarium on the top of the building, which is open year-round. Skates can be hired and skating lessons are available.

Gyms

The Waikiki Gym Club is one of the most famous gyms in Genoa and it offers all kinds of classes from step aerobics and yoga to toning and baby funk. The Genoan Squash Club, affiliated with the Italian Squash Federation, is the place to go to play squash in Genoa. It has two sites, one in Corso Italia with five courts, and another in via Greto di Cornigliano with six courts. The building in Corso Italia is in a complex on the sea, which includes a bathing complex, a self-service bar and a beach-volley sand court.
