Florence offers a massive amount of accommodation in all categories, from four-star and five-star hotel chains to independent, family-run and hostel-style accommodation. Room rates are reasonable for the mid-range and lower end of the accommodation spectrum, although prices tend to rise significantly among every class of hotel in the high season.

Where to stay?

The great majority of hotels and guesthouses in Florence are contained in the triangular city centre to the north of the River Arno. You could stay virtually anywhere in this area and only be a short walk from Florence’s major landmarks and attractions. There is a glut of hotels around the Stazione Santa Maria Novella (Florence’s train station) to the northwest of the city centre and numerous other options are available in the myriad of city centre squares. Many of the city’s grandest hotels are positioned along the northern bank of the Arno.
