Weather In Shannon

The weather in Ireland can be very changeable year-round. The summers are usually pleasant and fairly warm. It rarely gets very cold due to the Gulf Stream, which helps to keep the temperatures mild, considering its northern latitude. Temperatures occasionally drop below freezing during the wintertime, and snow is usually confined to the mountains.

Although the weather can't be compared to parts of southern Europe, the months of July and August are usually reasonably warm, with temperatures sometimes climbing to 30C. You can also benefit from the long days at this time of year, with daylight until around 23:00. The driest months are in April, May and September, but spring and autumn are good alternatives if you don't want to visit during the summer. Many of the attractions are also much quieter at this time.

Winter can be an inhospitable time to visit, with lengthy periods of rain or cloudy weather with no sunshine at all. It's also worth remembering that many restaurants and guesthouses close down around October and don't reopen until Easter.
