Limerick Transport
Limerick is small enough to get around easily on foot or by bicycle. To walk across the entire town, from the train station to St Mary’s Cathedral, takes just 15 minutes. The streets are laid out in a grid system, which makes navigation fairly simple. A copy of the booklet Tourist Trail, available at the tourist office and in bookshops, will greatly help you in finding your way around the city’s highlights.
Cycling is another excellent way to get around Limerick. The city has recently undertaken a major effort to construct new cycle paths around the city, which are safe and convenient. Bike rental shops can be found around the city centre. Bus Eireann operates the local bus network, which services a decent route system around Limerick. You can even bring your bicycle on the bus, provided it’s not too crowded. Taxis also offer a convenient way to get around the city.
By train
The train station in Limerick only handles trains coming in and out of the city from other points in Ireland. There is no rail service within the city itself.
