Weather In Knock

Ireland's climate is moderated by the Gulf Stream. Despite its northern latitude, temperatures only drop below freezing occasionally during the winter, and snow is rare. The weather can be very dramatic and changeable, with sunny conditions one moment and then stormy weather the next. There can also be lengthy periods of rain or cloudy weather with no sunshine at all.

Changeable weather

If you go to Ireland in July or August, you can expect reasonably warm weather, although temperatures rarely hit 30C. An added bonus is that the days stay light until around 23:00. Spring and autumn can also be enjoyable seasons, with the driest months in April, May and September. Many of the attractions are free from the crowds found during the summer months. Although the country does not suffer from extremes of weather, winter can be an inhospitable time to visit. The days are short and rain is frequent. It's also worth remembering that many restaurants and guesthouses close down around October and don't reopen until Easter.
