Weather In Samos

Samos is located in the Aegean Sea and enjoys a Mediterranean climate. July and August are the hottest months of the year, while the lowest temperatures occur during February.

Rain and wind

The island has plenty of rainfall, with the rain usually beginning in October. December and January bring the most rainfall, while during the summertime, rain is irregular. The rains cool the high temperatures, with showers often lasting a few hours before stopping abruptly. Samos has more rainfall than the nearby islands of the Aegean.

The northern and northwestern winds control the climate on Samos. During wintertime, when the winds known as the Mistral blow in from the northwest with great intensity, things can get very gusty, making sightseeing unpleasant at times.

During the high season from July to September, the island can get quite crowded with day-trippers from Turkey. The best time to go is in April or May, when the weather is stable and prices are lower.
